Football pitch dimensions (IFAB Law 1)
The Laws of the Game do not fix one pitch size. They set a range, and a narrower one for international matches. The sheets are drawn on a 105 × 68 m pitch, which fits both ranges.
- Touchline: 90 to 120 m; in international matches 100 to 110 m.
- Goal line: 45 to 90 m; in international matches 64 to 75 m.
- Penalty area: lines 16.5 m from the inside of each goalpost, 16.5 m into the field. Goal area: the same at 5.5 m.
- Penalty mark: 11 m from the middle of the goal. Centre circle and the arc outside the penalty area: radius 9.15 m.
- Goal: 7.32 m between the posts and 2.44 m high. Lines are at most 12 cm wide and belong to the areas they mark.
How coaches use the sheets
Print the formation sheet for match day and write the starting eleven on the lines next to each number, with the substitutes underneath. Players see their position and their teammates' at a glance.
Use the blank full pitch for a team shape, pressing plan or set piece, and the half pitch for attacking patterns, finishing drills and small-sided games. The notes lines take the coaching points.
Positions follow the presets of the tactics board. To move players, draw passes and runs or share a lineup by link, use the board instead.
