How to use it

Choose a formation for your team and, if you want, for the opponent. Drag any player or the ball to a new position. Tap a player to change the shirt number or add a name.

Switch to Pass, Run or Zone and drag on the pitch to draw: a solid arrow for a pass, a dashed arrow for a run without the ball, a shaded rectangle for a zone. Erase removes one drawing at a time, Undo steps back.

The whole board is stored in the page address. Copy link gives you a URL that reopens exactly this board; nothing is uploaded or saved on our side.

Formations on the board

Ten starting shapes are built in: 4-3-3, 4-2-3-1, 4-4-2, the 4-4-2 diamond, 4-1-4-1, 3-5-2, 3-4-3, 3-4-2-1, 5-3-2 and 5-4-1. They are starting positions, not rules: a formation describes where players stand when nothing is happening, and the interesting part is how the shape changes with and without the ball.

What a board is good for

A static board cannot show timing, and most of football is timing. Use it for what it does well: showing a shape, a passing option, an overload on one side, the zone a team wants to attack or protect. For the ideas behind those shapes, read the definitions below.
